The Holidays Are Approaching

Plumbing emergencies never come at a good time, but they can be especially problematic around the holidays. Having a party can be hard work and time consuming. The last thing you need to worry about is a plumbing nightmare. Your celebration will go off without a hitch if you consider these tips to avoid a plumbing emergency.

The holidays are the busiest season for us plumbers!  This is because you are cooking up feasts and expecting family for parties.

While cooking up those yummy casseroles, remember to never dump grease in the drain. Grease and food particles in the drain can clog your pipes. Grab an aluminum can or other container, pour the grease in, and dispose of it properly. Don’t forget to keep your sink strainers in place to ensure no scraps go down.

Speaking of strainers, it is a great choice to consider a shower strainer too. You will be surprised at how much hair builds up after all of your guests are finished showering.

Having family and friends over will create additional dishes to wash, clothes to wash, and toilet to flush. This can create some strain that your plumbing system may not be use to.

It is important to keep more than one toilet available to your guests. This will reduce strain on just a single toilet. Also, be sure to have a trashcan in plain sight close to the toilet.  This way, toilets aren’t used as garbage cans. (wet wipes, sanitary products).

Keep the plunger nearby. This way your guest can unclog it themselves to avoid embarrassment.

Last but not least, if your drains are slow now, treat them before your party.

By following these plumbing tips, you can ensure that your plumbing is ready for your busy holiday schedule.
